🫧 Barbahārī said in «Sharh al Sunnah» 📚:
The foundation upon which the Jamā’ah is built – they are the companions of Muhammad ﷺ (May Allah have mercy on them all), and they are the people of the Sunnah and the Jamā’ah, so whoever does not take from them then indeed he has gone astray and innovated, and every innovation is a misguidance, and the straying and its people are in the Fire.
🫧 Al Lālakā’ī narrates in «Sharh Usool I’tiqād Ahlussunnal wal Jamā’ah» 📚:
Ibn Mas‘ūd (May Allah be pleased with him) said, “The Jamā’ah is what is in agreement with the Truth, even if you are alone.”
🫧 Al Bayhaqī reported:
Nu’aym bin Hammād said, “If the Jamā’ah becσmes corrupted, then you must fσℓℓσω ωнατ τнє Jαмā’αн ωαs υρσи вєfσяє iτ вєcαмє cσяяυρτєɒ, and if you are alone then you are the Jamā’ah at that time.”
🫧 In «al Hilyah» 📚, Ishāq bin Rāhawayh said:
If you ask the ignorant: What is the al sawād al a‘dham? They say: The Jamā’ah (group) of the people. And they don’t know that the Jamā’ah is a scholar holding onto the narrations of the Prophet ﷺ and his way, and whoever is with him and follows him, then they are the Jamā’ah, and whoever opposes him regarding that, leaves the Jamā’ah.

✨ The Jamā’ah is not by number. The majority does not automatically mean right.
✨ The Jamā’ah is not something different today than what the Sahābah and those who followed them were upon.
✨ The Jamā’ah is not by time, just because someone lived in the era of the Salaf does not make them the Jamā’ah if they disagreed with what the Sahābah and those following them, were upon. (Ex Jahm bin Safwān, Ja’d bin Dirham, Bishr al Mirrīsī…. etc)
✨ The Jamā’ah is not by status and fame (ex al Ghazālī, al Juwaynī…)
