He Ta’ālā said {وَإِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِن بَنِي آدَمَ} the verses [Al A’rāf: 172-173].
‘Abd Ibn Humayd, Khushaysh Ibn Asram in Alistiqāmah📚, Ibn Jarīr, Ibn al Mundhir, Ibn Abī Hātim, Abu ash Shaykh, all mentioned on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbās, regarding His saying {وَإِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِن بَنِي آدَمَ} [Al A’rāf: 172], that he said:
“Allah created Ādam and made a binding agreement with him that He is his Lord, He wrote his lifespan, provision, and calamity, then He took out his offspring from his back in the form of particles, and made a binding agreement with them that He is their Lord (The First Covenant), and wrote their lifespans, provisions and calamities.
.. Ibn Jarīr and Ibn Abī Hātim mentioned on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbās regarding His saying {وَإِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِن بَنِي آدَمَ} [Al A’rāf: 172], that he said:
“When Allah created Ādam, He took out his offspring from his back in the form of particles, then named them with their names, so He said “This is so and so son of so and so, he will do such and such, and this is so and so son of so and so, he will do such and such.” Then He took with His hand two handfuls, and said “These are in Paradise and these are in Hell.””
Ibn Jarīr, Ibn Abī Hātim, and Al Lālakā’ī in Assunnah📚, mentioned on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbās regarding His saying {وَإِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ} [Al A’rāf: 172], that he said:
“Indeed Allah created Ādam then He took out his offspring from his back like particles, so He said to them “Who is your Lord?” They said “Allah is our Lord.” Then He returned them to his back, so that everyone who He made the firm agreement with, will be born, no one extra or less, till The Hour is established.”
Ibn Jarīr and Ibn al Mundhir mentioned, on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbās, that he said:
“When Ādam peace be upon him was sent down, at the time he was sent down at Dahnā’, Allah wiped his back and took out every person He would create till the Day of Judgment, then He said {Am I not your Lord? They said “Definitely”}, so that day the pen dried regarding what would happen till the Day of Judgment.”
‘Abdurrazzāq and Ibn al Mundhir mentioned, on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbās regarding the āyah, that he said:
“Allah wiped the back of Ādam and took out from his back what would be from his offspring till the Day of Judgment, and made a firm agreement with them that He is their Lord, and they made that with Him, so no one was asked, disbeliever or otherwise – Who is your Lord? – except they said “Allah”.”
Ibn Abī Shaybah, ‘Abd Ibn Humayd, Ibn Jarīr, Ibn al Mundhir, Ibn Abī Hātim, Abu ash Shaykh, and Al Lālikā’ī in Assunnah📚, mentioned on the authority of ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Amr, regarding His saying {وَإِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِن بَنِي آدَمَ مِن ظُهُورِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ} [Al A’rāf: 172], that he said:
“He took them from their backs like what is taken with a comb from the head.”
And ‘Abd Ibn Humayd, Ibn Jarīr, Ibn Abī Hātim, and Ibn Mandah in the book Arrad ‘alal Jahmiyyah📚, and Abu ash Shaykh, mentioned on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbās regarding the āyah, that he said:
He took out His offspring from his back as if they were particles in آذِيٍّ مِنَ الماءِ.
‘Abd Ibn Humayd mentioned on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbās regarding the āyah, that he said:
Indeed Allah hit with His right hand upon the shoulder of Ādam, and the like of pearls came out in His palm, and He said “This is for Paradise.” And He hit with His other hand upon his left shoulder, and black stuff like lava came out, and He said “This is the creation of Hell.”” He said “This is the āyah {وَلَقَدْ ذَرَأْنَا لِجَهَنَّمَ كَثِيرًا مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنسِ} [Al A’rāf: 179].”
‘Abd Ibn Humayd, Ibn al Mundhir, Ibn Abī Hātim and Abu ash Shaykh, mentioned on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbās regarding the āyah, that he said:
“Allah wiped the back of Ādam while he was in the middle of Na’mān, a valley at the side of ‘Arafah, and He took out from it every person He would create till the Day of Judgment, then He made a firm agreement with them,” and he recited {أَن يَقُولُوا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ}. He recited it like this “يَقُولُوا” with yā.
Abu ash Shaykh mentioned on the authority of ‘Abd al Karīm Ibn Abī Umayyah, that he said:
They were taken out from his back like the path of ants.
